Lowfat Protein No Fried Ice Cream Modern Honey
When I was a kid, one of my favorite family activities would be to drive down to our local Mexican restaurant, Mi Amigo’s, and order my favorite foods. I always ordered a shredded beef enchilada, an ice cold bottle of sarsaparilla, and a Mexican fried ice cream. I remember how I couldn’t wait to finish my enchiladas so I could get to the best part of my meal — the fried ice cream. It was creamy, crunchy, and sweet and as a little kid, I cherished every bite.
I wanted to recreate this famous Mexican dessert but make a low-fat version of it. I ditched the fryer and the butter and oil and used Simple Truth Low Cow Low Fat Ice Cream to reduce the calories. The Simple Truth Sea Salt Caramel Low Cow Lite Ice Cream has 24 grams of protein per pint! It is a low calorie ice cream and has 80% less fat and 60% fewer calories than regular ice cream. It has only 70 calories, 2 grams of fat, and only 5 grams of sugar per serving and it tastes rich and creamy.
The Sea Salt Caramel has a buttery caramel swirl that is so decadent. I almost ate the entire pint and I didn’t feel a tinge of guilt. It is amazing that an entire pint has only 280 calories. You can find the new Simple Truth Low Cow Ice Cream excusively at all Kroger stores (Fry’s, Ralph’s, Smith’s, Fred Meyer and many more). It is the Simple Truth brand, which I always trust because of the quality of ingredients and since it is free from all of the fillers. This ice cream is available in 6 flavors — Sea Salt Caramel, Vanilla Bean, Chocolate, Birthday Cake, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Lemon Cake. It’s also a better price than the competitive ice creams which is always a win-win. To find out more information about Simple Truth, click here.
Most fried ice cream uses butter and oil to make a crispy coating but you don’t even need it! I found the perfect coating to be Honey Bunches of Oats. It’s crunchy and sweet and pairs perfectly with the creamy ice cream. This Cheaters Fried Ice Cream can be served with fresh strawberries and a touch of whipped cream. It is a low-fat and low-calorie dessert that tastes rich and decadent.
