Prince Charles Shares an Update on Prince Philip's Health

Publish date: 2024-06-12

Prince Charles has confirmed that his father, Prince Philip, is doing well while currently hospitalized at King Edward VII Hospital in London for a planned medical visit.

According to People, after a visit to the recently flooded town of South Yorkshire, Charles updated an on-site reporter on the state of his 98-year-old father’s health.

“He’s being looked after very well in the hospital,” said Charles. “At the moment that’s all we know.”

Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday that Prince Philip was admitted to the hospital, describing his visit as a “precautionary measure on the advice of His Royal Highness’ doctor.” A source told People that the prince did not travel by ambulance since it was a “planned admission” and Philip entered the hospital “unaided.”

When Philip was hospitalized, his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, was making her way to Norfolk, where she will be residing for a few weeks during holiday break. Though it is only two days to Christmas, the royal family is hopeful Philip will be able to be with the queen and other senior royal family members at Sandringham come Christmas Day.

“Despite increasing fears for the Duke’s health it is hoped he will be discharged and return to Sandringham to join the rest of his family in time for Christmas,” a source told The Telegraph.

Reportedly, the queen’s decision to continue on to Norfolk for the holiday without Philip ensures she is not worried, but rather hopeful, regarding his condition.
